As we explore Port of Spain, you will see where the Emancipation Proclamation was first read in 1834, returning freedom to thousands of enslaved people. Resistance and rebellion were an important part of the African experience throughout history.
We will visit sites of revolutionary activity by Africans against oppressive rule. Our tour will take you to a community once called Freetown in honour of the countless Africans who rebuilt their lives there at the end of enslavement.
And to culminate our experience, we will pour libation and pay respect to the ancestors who fought, sacrificed and gave their lives for the freedom of future generations.
