"This workshop is quite valuable and all library staff should do it"

"There is so much of our history that is not told, not revealed and in great danger of dying when our elders depart this earth"

"Captivating, Engaging, Lively, Entertaining, Intriguing"

"Thank you for this opportunity for self awareness and providing me with the tools to provide a better service to patrons"…

These are just some of the comments from the two-day training in Caribbeana conducted by Idakeda for the staff of the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS).

Lead facilitator Eintou Springer drew from her knowledge and understanding of Caribbean history, literature and theatre to provide workshop participants with a new and interesting perspective on the Caribbean Collection.

She was supported in the training by Attillah Springer, who was able to bring her experiences working with urban youth and At-Risk communities to the intensive sessions.

Almost all participants called for the training to be longer and more consistent, citing a need for all staff to develop an intimate understanding of the Caribbeana collection to better serve students, academics and researchers.
