Rave reivews for Parent and Teacher Workshops

It is perfect as it is so says Wilfred Lyons Principal of the La Romain High School about the recently concluded workshop and intervention conducted by Idakeda for the PTA of the school

"It is perfect as it is", so says Wilfred Lyons, Principal of the La Romain High School about the recently concluded workshop and intervention conducted by Idakeda for the PTA of the school. The workshop was centered around a new piece of work by Eintou Pearl Springer, "Madame Lorraine and the Fancy Sailor" based on the traditional carnival characters of Trinidad and Tobago, the Dame Lorraine and the Fancy Sailor. The piece portrays the home life of Baby Doll, who interacts with the two characters to highlight instances of abuse and neglect in the home. The group also dramatised 'Maxi Taxi Man' one of Ms. Springer's poems which examines the culture of young school girls being lured away from school and their home by taxi drivers who ply mini-buses for hire.

Parents and Teachers were highly appreciative of the workshop, asking for it to be repeated in all schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago, including at La Romain High.

Photos from the workshop are in the Showcase section of our site and keep checking for the comments from parents and teachers in What Town Say.

Until next time, we on the road again with Madame Lorraine and Fancy Sailor!
