Eintou Springer was the featured artiste at the St Lucia Literary Festival entitled WORD ALIVE, which took place earlier this month.

She began her performance with an extract from her play ‘I HYARIMA', dedicating it to not only Hyarima, but other revolutionary Amerindian leaders Chatoyer, Hatuey and Coanabo.

On the following day, Eintou wore her storyteller's hat, for an excited audience of primary school children, who were treated to ‘HOW ANANSI BRING THE DRUM', in which they fully participated. In the evening, Eintou was able to perform several of her jazz pieces with the support of professional musicians, a saxophonist and a drummer.

The Festival's opening day theme was ‘This Land We Love'. The theme explored through the work of the writers, the physical, emotional, psychological links to the Caribbean homeland. It also examined the cultural and historical links to the landscape.

‘Women of the Word, was the theme on the following day at which Eintou joined other well known women writers of the region.

We wish to thank Festival organiser Adrian Augier and his team for including Eintou as part of their ever growing tribute to artistes of the Word.
