Obelisk Communications coordinates International Business Symposium
The 2010 International Business Symposium hosted by the Emancipation Support Committee (ESC) will be coordinated this year by Obelisk Communications, a member of the Idakeda Group. The Symposium, which takes place on July 30th at the Trinidad Hilton, is in its tenth year. The prestigious event has grown significantly over the years, creating important links for entrepreneurs from the United States, the Caribbean, Africa and of course, Trinidad and Tobago.
This year the Symposium will focus on deepening business connections with Haiti in ways which are geared specifically to the sustainable rebuilding process in that Caribbean nation.
The website of the ESC indicates that the organisation took a decision in 2000 to establish a series of symposia focused on business and economic development to coincide with the annual commemoration of emancipation in the Caribbean. At that time, the organization partnered with the Washington based Foundation for Democracy in Africa to initiate the series called the Trans-Atlantic Expo International Trade and Investment Symposia, with the theme "Reinventing the Triangle". The tenth anniversary of the Symposium is therefore being seen as an opportunity to celebrate its success and determine a vision for future symposia.
