Eintou Springer's play "I, Hyarima" was well received by the people of the Arima community who came out in their numbers to see the production on Friday night. The weather held, making the outdoor event truly magical in the setting of the Square opposite the Catholic Church.
The play celebrates the triumphs of Hyarima, the beloved Nepuyo warrior chief who fought for his people against Spanish colonials during the 17th century.
It was good to work with old friends Allyson Browne (Miss Tan Tan!)and Director Extraordinaire, Ed de Shae who were involved with organising the cultural show during the day. We extend our warm thanks to the cast, master drummer 'Redman' accompanied by 'Chibale' and the technical team who helped to make the play a resounding success. And we reserve special gratitude to Ms. Ruth who came through for us with beautifully done, additional costuming at the last minute, in spite of the fact that she suddenly came down with chicken pox!
