The History Teachers Association of Trinidad and Tobago were treated to an outstanding performance of Sesa Woruban – I Transform Myself, another original play by Eintou Pearl Springer.
The play traces the journey of the African from the continent to the Caribbean and examines in particular the experiences of the enslaved in Trinidad and Tobago. The main lead acting roles were played by the venerable Errol 'Blood' Roberts and Prior Joseph, both last seen in another Springer original, 'I-Hyarima', honouring the Amerindian chief Hyarima. Supporting acting roles were play by Devon Harrigan and Hasley Benjamin, both newcomers to the stage. Christopher Sheppard and Cleevland 'Arlington' Serries were the lead male dancers while Dara E. Healy and Samantha Flores were the lead female dancers.
The performance which took place on December 6th at the Learning Resource Centre in Couva, was well received by students and teachers alike. In fact, since the performance several teachers have requested the show for their own schools.
Idakeda sends a special thank you to the entire cast and technical crew who were a part of this special experience and who worked so hard to ensure the success of the production.
