Eintou draws on local scholars for Freedom Morning Come!!! Freedom Morning Come!!! is a new historical play from Eintou Pearl Springer, author of Kambule the very successful street theatre that is now recognised as an important event in our Carnival celebrations. The play will premiere on Sunday August 1st, Emancipation Day at 7am on the Brian Lara Promenade. The customary Kambule parade will proceed to the Emancipation Village, Jean Pierre Complex at the end of the play.

Chibale impresses at Yoruba Village Drumming Festival The Chibale Drumming Ensemble impressed the audience at this years Yoruba Village Drumming Festival hosted by the Emancipation Support Committee as part of its Schedule of Activities for Emancipation 2010. Original Stories by Eintou being used to counter Violence in Schools The expressions on the faces of the children are evidence enough; storytelling as a vehicle for transformation amongst children up to the age of twelve is an effective and powerful tool for teachers and parents alike.
Idakeda recently began a storytelling programme in schools as a counter to the culture of violence, confrontation and preference for alien cultures currently prevalent in our school environment. The initiative, based on the original stories of Eintou Pearl Springer, is designed to achieve very specific grounding for children aged 7-11years old in the culture and history of Trinidad and Tobago.

Teachers learn how to use Local and Caribbean poetry in the classroom for behavioural change ...Using the Poetry to send a message to the youths and help as a coping mechanism, was just one of the benefits noted by participants of a recent Poetry in the Classroom workshop for teachers. The workshop, part of a series of activities jointly held by Idakeda and the National Aids Coordinating Committee (NACC), was entitled Poetry, the Arts and Social Issues: Relevance and Implementation. Baby Doll documentary well received at Canadian Film Festival Idakeda was privileged to be part of the 2009 edition of the Caribbean Tales Film Festival in Toronto, Canada, mingling with Caribbean Film greats such as Festival founder Frances-Anne Solomon, Gayelle co-founder Christopher Laird and the legend herself, Euzhan Palcy of Martinique, the first Caribbean woman Director to receive support for a major Hollywood movie, with stars such as Marlon Brando.

'Chibale' drumming group, newest addition to Idakeda family Chibale (pron. chee bah lay)is the name of the drumming group made up of the children of Idakeda - Ajani Healy(9), Shomari Healy (9) and Kayode Charles(6).
Formed two years ago, Chibale will perform at its first professional gig later this month.
