The Ida Marie Guerra Cultural Intervention Centre

The Ida Marie Guerra Cultural Intervention Centre is dedicated to introducing culturally-based, alternative and relevant education into those communities in Trinidad and Tobago where young people have been denied formal educational opportunities.

Contributions to the ‘Centre’ go towards the purchase of musical instruments, audio-visual equipment, costumes, props and other materials which help us to further our goal of Community Enrichment through Indigenous Arts.

The Centre, a non-profit organisation, is named for matriarch Ida Marie Guerra-Arttley. Ida was herself a staunch believer in the ability of education to conquer the vast majority of negative socio-economic circumstances.

Ida’s insistence on a formal education for her children, while rooting them in traditional values, has been directly responsible for the survival of the generations which have followed her and is the inspiration for the ongoing community work of Idakeda..

It is her ethic of hard work and an unrelenting commitment to the highest of standards which guide and motivate everything we do at the Centre.
