Eintou Springer received her latest regional accolade this past week when the prestigious Cuban Institute of Arts and Culture, Casa de Las Americas, acknowledged her contribution to the literary arts in the field of Poetry, and honoured her for her commitment to developing and promulgating the artform.
The Havana based Institute celebrates its 50th year of existence this year and will launch a special book to commemorate the anniversary. Eintou's poetry will be featured in the publication.
According to an online bulletin Cuba Now. Net, Casa de las Americas is "a non-governmental institution with the aim of developing, extending and strengthening the social and cultural relations with the countries of the Caribbean, Latin American and the rest of the world".
Eintou is a published author of five books of poetry; her latest publication is the critically acclaimed "Loving the Skin I'm In". She has performed her poetry all over the world and she is now putting her poetic gifts to work as a form of intervention for troubled young people in schools and communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
