Poets, Spoken Word performers and Rapso artistes gathered under the thatched roof of the Carib Hut outside the Carib Centre in Arima that same night. The readings were blessed by head of the Karina Community Ricardo Bharath who had opened his home and this space to us.

In a true spirit of sharing, we discussed the Festival theme and offered our poetry in honour of what we were trying to achieve during the week of the Festival and in deference to the warrior spirits we were sure were listening to us.

Immortelle, Muhammad, Dara E. Healy, Nicholas Sosa, Rachel Kennedy and others shared their prose and words, supported by the mystical music of Baba, son of Ja Ja Oga Onilu.
