"Museums and Tourism" is the theme set by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) for the celebration of International Museum Day this year. The Idakeda team will once again lend its Festival and Event Management skills to the National Museum to ensure that the launch is a success.

The opening event will take place at the National Museum and Art Gallery on May 18th, the day set aside by ICOM for global celebrations of International Museum Day. The programme will feature the launch of a new film by Idakeda, focused on Cultural Tourism and the history and cultural heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.

A distinguished panel of industry practitioners will provide their perspectives on the theme of the celebration, in addition to looking at the ways in which we would be able to use events such as International Museum Day as an opportunity for long-term national impact by heritage institutions such as the National Museum.

The National Museum has also organised a week of activities inspired by the theme. These will take place at the South Quay, Port of Spain Museum. The week will feature booths and demonstrations by a variety of Cultural and Tourism stakeholders such as the Tour Guide Association of T & T and the Craft Association of T&T, as well as live performances
