Students visit mas camp as part of Idakeda intervention

Students from one the schools benefiting from a long term intervention by Idakeda, received an absolute treat when they visited the Brian Mc Farlane mas camp recently. For the students, the experience was akin to being transported to another world; none of them had ever gone to a mas camp before, neither had they seen how mas is made nor have they had an opportunity to get up close and personal with the people who create the magic on the roads for Carnival Monday and Tuesday.

The icing on the day was when internationally famous, multiple Carnival award winner Brian Mc Farlane himself took some time out to chat with the young people and share with them some of his intimate memories of Carnival of the now and of years past.

It goes without saying that the young people were overwhelmed, some of them even committing to return to the camp to help with the mas making.

We wish to thank our own Kevin Mc Mayo for organising this visit and for making this an experience that these young people will never forget.

We continue on our journey. Stay with us …
