The first few weeks of 2009 have been a veritable whirlwind for Idakeda. Our workshops in schools continue to be warmly received and the good vibes have been attracting talented and committed people to our cause.

Kevin McMayo who was one of the original actors and facilitators for our 'Baby Doll' interventions, returned from the UK to reclaim his space and 'mash up de place' with his awesome talent. Then appears (literally) Dale Delicia. Dale not only works in the community now, but he is one of the original members of a group of 'at risk' young people from Never Dirty in Morvant to be trained in theatre by Eintou, our Creative Force. Dale learns lines in two days and is now a part of our facilitation team sharing his real life experiences and skills with the young people who need it most.

We express our appreciation also to our Principal Facilitator for the workshops Attillah Springer, who works consistently to ensure that her own training in Theatre in Education engenders a lasting and meaningful experience for our young people.

And they continue to come. Those skilled in dance, drumming, theatre – all to do their part for the young people of our nation who need it most. What more can be said? We are truly blessed and because of this, we are determined to make a difference.

Stay with us on our journey …

Ashe.
