Idakeda Teacher interventions begin

The Idakeda team will conduct the first in a series of training sessions for teachers this week geared towards preparing teachers for better managing At Risk students

The Idakeda team will conduct the first in a series of training sessions for teachers this week, geared towards helping teachers to better manage 'At Risk' students. Our teacher training and intervention will take place before we continue our work with the students, so that we may identify and workshop some critical aspects of student/teacher interaction which need to be addressed with some urgency.

Our findings in all of the schools we have worked with thus far, indicate a definite disconnect between the teachers and the students; our training is therefore geared towards generating empathy, involvement and proactive behaviour on the part of the teachers. Additionally, we will spend time sharing some of the specifics of our techniques, to provide teachers with the tools and the confidence to implement unorthodox methods of learning. This will impact significantly on their ability to reach students, and explore the full range of their skills as educators.

As we work to 'close the circle of communication' between students, teachers and parents, the Idakeda team continues its own internal training, to ensure that the actors and facilitators deliver the highest standards of training and intervention.

We will continue to share our progress with you; continue the journey with us…
