Idakeda conducts special training for Actors and Facilitators involved in Intervention Programmes

As the Idakeda team prepares for the challenges of the new school term, facilitators and actors received vital training from Creative Force, Eintou Pearl Springer.

Training focussed on a number of key themes, including major areas of focus for the students, dramatic technique and workshop format. Facilitators received a comprehensive script to be used in the new term, which includes poetry from the various creative voices of Idakeda such as Eintou, Dara and Shomari Healy.

The second phase of this training process will take place in January, when the focus will be on working with the teaching staff. This is an essential aspect of the holistic approach Idakeda takes for its interventions, that is, 'Closing the Circle of Communication' between students, parents and teachers'.

We welcome some familiar faces to the school and community intervention programme, namely our cherised Kevin McMayo who has been living and working in the United Kingdom and veteran actor, Errol 'Blood' Roberts, who has become a staple on Idakeda productions.

Thank you everyone for your commitment and involvement, we look forward to pooling our collective skills in 2009 in our continuing quest for transformation.
