Star Sounds Studio A came alive on Monday afternoon as Poet Laureate of Port of Spain Eintou Pearl Springer recorded her story 'Ti Jean and Mariquite' for Kingston based Carlong Publishers.

'Ti Jean and Mariquite' a story told in Trinidad English and French patois, was originally included in Godchild – Eintou's collection of poems and stories for children. It was also performed as a play with original score composed by the late musician extraordinaire Andre Tanker.

Ti Jean and Mariquite is to be included in an anthology of Caribbean stories called Tek Mi! Noh Tek Mi! along with an audio cd.

For the recording, Eintou included her grandchildren: Shanya, Ajani, Shomari and Kayode who recently performed at the NALIS emancipation celebrations under the name Chibale.

Also in attendance at Monday's recording session was master drummer Gerard Hector under whom the performers of Chibale have been studying drums and percussion 'since they born'. Gerard currently works in Connecticut with young people, using drums as a form of therapy.

The Star Sounds engineer was very impressed with Chibale's professionalism and discipline. The story and instrumentation were completed in one perfect take!

Look out for further details about the Tek Mi! Noh Tek Mi! book and CD.
