The Idakeda intervention technique, using the culture of Trinidad and Tobago to deliver key social messages, will now be extended to parents and teachers within the school system of Trinidad and Tobago. The workshops which begin this month, continue the Baby Doll theme and are part of the ongoing youth and family-life training being managed by the Ministry of Education.
Poet Laureate of Port of Spain, Eintou Pearl Springer, has written a special new play for these adult workshops, 'Madame Lorraine and the Fancy Sailor', incorporating the traditional carnival characters, the Dame Lorraine and the Fancy Sailor with the Baby Doll. The award winning actress and author will lead a team of trained facilitators as they use the culture of Trinidad and Tobago to explore the issues and challenges facing educators and parents in treating with the needs of teenagers in our present reality.
