Eintous stories brighten lives of New York children

The children of selected schools in New York will receive the gift of stories from Eintou this weekend

The children of selected schools in New York will receive the gift of stories from Eintou Pearl Springer this weekend. The children from the Pye Beacon programme in East Flatbush and the Crown Heights Beacon programme in Crown Heights, Brooklyn will be exposed to Eintou's unique brand of Anansi stories and her original songs for young people, all drawn from the rich culture of Trinidad and Tobago, Africa and the diaspora.

The Beacon programmes are community based programmes for young people in the area, designed to encourage young people to engage in structured activities at no cost to them. The activities take place throughout the week and on the weekend.

Eintou is particularly excited to share her stories with these young people as she believes it is important to ground them in their African and Caribbean culture and roots – in many ways an extension of the work the poet and author is already doing with young people in schools in Trinidad and Tobago.
