Eintou Springer's Canboulay takes centre stage again this Carnival Friday, February 1st. This pageant version of the full length play documents and reenacts the Canboulay Riots of 1881 in Port of Spain, Trinidad. This year the action will unfold on the Piccadilly Greens in East Port of Spain, from 5am – a change from previous years where it was held at the Duke St. venue in front of the All Stars Pan Yard. And papa – the authentic stick fighters from Talparo will be coming down and creating a Gayelle from about 4am.

This year our own actors from the Idakeda family will be featured in the lead roles: Eintou herself is featured in the role of the 'Bois Woman' and Elder who provides the invocation before battle, Prior Joseph plays Pierrot 1 and Christopher Sheppard Pierrot 2, both ably supported by the venerable Errol 'Blood' Roberts. Our own Andrea De Silva will be on site capturing the images which you can look forward to by next week.

And this year for the first time, the Prime Minister will be in attendance.

So is "Bois Bataille" in the East Dry River Gayelle Carnival Friday – Come through early eh!
