Eintous play Canboulay on stage for Best Village

The oneact play Canboulay written by Eintou Pearl Springer and performed in the streets for the last three years at the beginning of the Carnival season will now hit the stage at the Best Village competition this year

Eintou's One-Act play Canboulay, which for the last four years has been performed at the All Stars Pan Yard, a yard that is in the vicinity of the historic Canboulay Riots of 1881 has now been transformed into a full-length three-act play.

The play will be on stage this October at the finals of the Best Village competition. It is being staged by the Malik Folk Performing Company, the company that has won the Best Village Trophy eight times; more than any other group in this national competition dedicated to the Folk Arts and which has been in existence since 1963.

Canboulay is being directed by Mr. Louis Mc Williams, Artistic Director of Malik, who holds an MA from York University, Toronto.
