An invitation was extended to schools around the country for some of their students to participate in a series of workshops as part of the programme of activities for Carifesta IX.

“Passing the Baton of the Word” the theme for The Storytelling Workshop will include performance and recognition of stalwarts of the Spoken Word and Oral Tradition, it also aims to Forge active links between all practitioners of Orality across the region and provide a forum for as many participants of the region as possible to showcase their poets, storytellers and other artists of the word.

The workshops commence on Tuesday September 26th at The National Museum, 117 Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain from 10:00am.

This is the first time in history of Carifesta that the Oral Tradition is receiving recognition. It is easily taking its place as an important component of Carifesta IX.
