IDAKEDA WORKS WITH THE CIRCLE OF POETS FOR THE SPOKEN WORD ORAL TRADITION

The Spoken Word and the Women of the Oral Tradition will honour Jamaican Spoken Word and Storytelling Caribbean Icon Louise Ms Lou Bennett

The Spoken Word and the “Women of the Oral Tradition” will honour Jamaican Spoken Word and Storytelling Caribbean Icon Louise ‘Ms. Lou’ Bennett as part of the programme jointly hosted by The Circle of Poets of Trinidad and Tobago, alongside the Rapso Movement and IDAKEDA Group Limited for this year Carifesta IX Celebrations.

Ms. Louise Bennett was loved by Caribbean people everywhere for her warm spirit, quick wit and her dramatic Jamaican performances, through her skills and dub-style poetry.

Ms. Pearl Eintou Springer, poetic laureate of Port-of-Spain, Heads the list of top local and regional performers who will share their talent in honour of Ms. Louise Bennett.

Also honoring ‘Ms. Lou’ is the Hartford Cultural Group from Jamaica and our very own Sister Ava, who is hailed the new “Rapso Queen”, alongside Paula Obe and Sernia.

This is the first time in the history of Carifesta that The Spoken Word/Oral Tradition is receiving recognition.

“Women of the Oral Tradition” take place at the National Museum, Port-of-Spain on Wednesday September 27 from 7:30pm.
